Digital Dentistry

The evolution of technology, has greatly benefited dentistry.

Especially in the field of Prosthοdontics, we have gained possibilities that allow us to work faster and more efficiently, while making your life easier.

Remember, for example, the impressions we used to use when we wanted to take measurements of your teeth?

In our practice, we now use digital impressions with an intraoral scanner (3D scanner) for these tasks.

Teeth and gum impressions are taken using a special scanner, a device that uses light to take 3D pictures of your mouth and transfer them to a computer.

Using the scanner

  • makes the impression process easier and quicker
  • the impression is taken without triggering the gag reflex
  • The resulting digital impressions are very accurate.

The digital impressions can be used by us and our dental technician to

  • digitally design the work we will do on your teeth
  • digitally design the changes to your smile

Let’s say we want to make a bridge for your teeth.

After taking a digital impression, our dental technician designs the prosthesis in a special program and instructs special cutting machines to make the bridge with great precision.

We can also digitally design your new smile and 3D print the resulting moulds to try your new smile in your mouth before we start your treatment.

Technology makes our job easier and allows us to work with great precision.

It also makes it easier for you to receive the highest quality dental treatment.

Questions
  1. Will my treatment be more expensive because you use the scanner?

No. The intraoral scanner is a very expensive piece of dental equipment, but this does not affect the cost of the work you will be doing.

  2. Why is digital work more accurate?

With traditional methods of prosthetic work, the accuracy of the the prosthesis depends on changes in the dimensions of the materials we use.
Now we can capture the teeth and create new teeth with the precision that technology offers.

  3. When do you use the intraoral scanner?

When we want to make crowns, bridges and splints and when we digitally design your smile.

  4. Does the intraoral scanner use radiation?

    No, it uses light.
